Comptroller General's Award

This is a premium, handcrafted two-panel plaque designed with a classic dark walnut wood frame. The two sections are connected with a brass hinge so it opens and closes like a book. The wood frame is just over an inch thick, giving it a solid, high-quality feel.
 
Design Details
Inside, the background is lined with soft, black velvet for an elegant touch. On the right side, there’s a bronze nameplate mounted directly onto the velvet. On the left side, the official GAO seal is displayed in the same style.
 
The back of each panel is also made of walnut and secured with hidden screws that are covered with matching walnut pegs—so the whole thing looks clean and polished from every angle. No extra hardware shows through.
 
The Medallion
Each plaque features a bronze medallion about 3 inches wide. It’s made from a high-quality copper alloy (96% copper) and has a rich antique bronze finish. The design is die-struck, which means it’s literally pressed into the metal for sharp detail.
 
The Nameplate
The engraved plate is cut from a thick piece of solid bronze. It’s polished, cleaned, and chemically treated to maintain its bronze color and give it a premium look. Like the medallion, it’s also made from a top-tier copper alloy.
